Mick celebrates 30 years at Tilly's!

Michael (Mick) Hart is a familiar face to anyone who has ever had anything to do with Tilly’s. Working in one business for 30 years will ensure that!

In early 1988 Mick was working at a farm outside Toowoomba when he decided a change was needed. A vacancy in the paint bay at Tilly’s Crawler Parts seemed to be a good opportunity, and so began a career which has seen Mick work in nearly every part of the company.

9 years in the track shed was followed by time in despatch, where Mick says he used to pick it, pack it and deliver it, unlike these days when three different departments handle outgoing orders. Delivery driving has since become his specialty, with nearly 1000 km per week ticking over on the company ute around Toowoomba.

A Ford fanatic by his own admission, Mick says the only time he drove a Holden was when the Tilly’s staff were on a defensive driving course. Not one of his favourite memories from the last 30 years!

Andrew and Helen Tilly are almost like family to Mick. He’s seen the business grow from small beginnings to the company it is now, and he’s proud to have been part of it for three decades. Mick says Tilly’s are the best, just like Fords!

When thinking about the best way to celebrate Mick’s 30 year anniversary, it was decided the most suitable gift would be one involving his beloved Fords and motor racing. Mick was delighted to receive his anniversary package last week, which includes the hire of a 5 litre Mustang for a week so he and daughter Samantha can make their way to Townsville for the Super Car race in July. Accommodation on the track, corporate pit passes and a visit to the Capricorn Caves for Samantha on the way home round out a very well-deserved recognition of dedicated service. Mick says he has another couple of years left at Tilly’s until he retires, and it’s certain the memories of his Townsville trip will keep him going for a lot longer than that.

Congratulations on 30 years at Tilly’s Mick – the place just wouldn’t be the same without you!
